It is located to the west of downtown Taichung, which used to the suburbs of Dadun Street. In the 1730s Han people from China gathered and developed in between Liou Creek and Lyu Creek. This large cluster was called Lan-Jhang-Sing village. During Japanese Colonial Period, Shi Chiu belonged to Mingjhih and Dahe Districts of Taichung-Jhou. After 1945, Taichung City was re-divided into Dung, Shi, Nan, Bei, and Jung Chius.
