Taipei’s main shopping districts are Simending, Jhongsiao and Sinyi. Theme streets such as the jade markets and computer lane found at Guanghua Commercial Plaza.
Department stores, boutiques, and small stores all offer quality at reasonable prices. Night markets are fun to shop in, accept cash only, and vendors rarely speak English, but shoppers can often bargain. That's where the best selections and prices for souvenirs, gifts, casual clothing, and traditional handicrafts can be found. Taipei's notable shopping districts offer a good selection of shops where visitors can get good buys.
Dinghao Market
All types of restaurants, pubs, teahouses, fast-food shops, bakeries, bookshops, and some of the leading department stores are located here to keep you happy! You may purchase designer labels at the boutiques offering international brand-name fashions and accessories, or inexpensive casual wear a variety of footwear can also be found easily. Street vendors in the maze of alleys sell clothes, trinkets, and costume jewelry at bargain prices. Established jewelry stores offer gold and other fine jewelry, and can give certificates of guarantee. Several movie theaters show both Western and Chinese films until midnight.
Tienmu District
A suburb to the north of Taipei, Tienmu is a favorite spot for foreigner where Western delicatessens, grocery stores, and restaurants are concentrated. Beyond the pricey designer boutiques, you will find a dozen discount clothing shops with export items at bargain prices. If you want to purchase brass items and furniture, Tienmu is a great place to look. Antique and curio stores abound, and small teahouses and cafes provide a cosmopolitan flavor.
Huahsi Night Market
This stretch of noodle and fish restaurants, specialty shops and street vendors attracts throngs of tourists. Snake handlers and snake-derived medicines and foods give Huahsi Street its common name, Snake Alley.
Miramar Entertainment Park
The Miramar Entertainment Park is a new-age shopping and entertainment complex built with the idea of offering enough consumption and entertainment options to keep visitors occupied for a full-day stay. The most striking feature of this park, which was opened only at the end of 2004, is a 95-meter-high, 70-meter-in-diameter Ferris wheel that light up at night to add a strong touch of romance to the Taipei skyline.
Breeze Center
Breeze Center is a supermall with 23000 pings of space that combines shopping, dining, entertainment and recreation all under one roof.
The shopping portion is divided into the Modern Stars Area and Fashion Sunshine Avenue. These two areas include 6 floors of shopping, a fine food plaza, a supermarket and dining street as well as an international-class movie complex with six theaters.
Breeze Center boasts that it is the place for one-stop shopping. For example, the first floor cosmetics area features hard-to-find brands such as Swissline, Bluspa and Makina.
Walking along Fashion Sunshine Avenue is like walking along Fifth Avenue in New York, as there are a number of brand-name boutiques, such as Prada and Miu Miu.
This spacious and bright mall is also home to flagship Mango, Burberry, Ferragamo, Tod's Kenneth Cole and Bally stores.
This mostly glass structure and the tall coconut trees inside create a bright, green atmosphere difficult to find in this area crowded with skyscrapers. What a nice place to shop!
