Botanical Gardens

With a hundred years of history as the "lungs" of Taipei, the Botanical Garden is the best place downtown to experience the green refreshment of nature. There are numerous kinds of plants in the garden, each marked with its own scientific name, its place of origin, and its applications. So while you’re basking amongst the lush flora, you can learn more about them too. One hallmark of the Botanical Garden is its lotuses, elegantly weaving in the wind.

There are also a large variety of butterflies dancing lightly in the garden, including the queen of butterflies, the Papilionidae; spotted butterflies with speckled wings; and elegant white butterflies, white and yellow all over. The antique Chinese buildings with interior courtyards that remain from the Qing dynasty send one’s thoughts floating back to the days of old.
